Prospective Families

In Response to Covid-19

  • Last week, our school launched our distance-learning plan for SMS students that will run for the duration of our school closure. While our campus is closed, our learning community continues to thrive as our teachers, students, and parents remain connected.
  • As a way to stay connected, our team is creating many of opportunities to virtually support each other during our school closure. Our Student Council plans to launch a virtual talent show as well as modified versions of its Council Catch Up.
  • St. Michael’s will begin weekly virtual Q & A sessions with Dr. Marcy Atkins, Psy D. Dr. Atkins is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialty in children’s services. In these sessions, she will respond to questions posed by parents and teachers.
  • We are excited to roll out to you and current SMS families some at-home family activities that will entertain and engage children of varying ages. We are creating lots of content on our St. Michael’s Facebook and Instagram pages – so follow us to learn more about SMS.

We believe that the cost of a St. Michael’s education should not be a deterrent to any family, regardless of income and assets.

All-Inclusive Tuition

Extended School Day programming is included in the price of tuition ($6,100 value to families). There will be NO additional fee associated with these programs. Children can stay at St. Michael’s from morning drop off until 5:30pm with no additional cost incurred. (Note: Excludes the Enrichment Program.)

Tuition Assistance

At St. Michael’s Country Day School, we believe in shaping the future of our children’s school community. We also believe that the advantages of an independent school (small class size, individualized instruction, leadership opportunities in the classroom and community, and strong arts, technology and athletics programs) should be accessible to as many academically qualified students as possible. Economic diversity improves the educational and social experience for students and is critical to sustaining a healthy school culture. We believe that the cost of a St. Michael's education should not be a deterrent to any family, regardless of income and assets.

Financial need is determined through the careful analysis of a family’s financial resources and the ability to contribute to their child’s education. Awards are determined with the guidance of the objective financial analysis provided by School and Student Services (SSS) by NAIS. To apply, please click the link below.

Active Military Discount

St. Michael’s is proud of its long, historical connection to the US military and US military families in Newport. Each year, the school enrolls fifteen to twenty five students from families connected to the Naval Academy’s War College and other service related duties. US military families bring a rich trove of national and international diversity to our community and enrich the experience of all our students.

The school has been exceptionally supportive to US military families through financial assistance. While classroom spaces and tuition assistance funds are available, active military families who apply for financial assistance can expect to receive support commensurate with their families’ need. St. Michael’s Country Day School’s military discount for U.S. families on active duty is 50% for students in grades Kindergarten – Grade 8. (We will offer a 25% military discount for families who have children in the Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs).
