Teen Shakespeare Starts July 1

Teen Shakespeare Starts July 1

Dear Comedy of Errors Campers and Parents;

We’re right around the corner from the beginning of the Theatre at St. Michael’s Teen Shakespeare Camp, and I just wanted to touch bases with all of you.  The faculty and I, along with all of the counselors, can’t wait to start working on Comedy of Errors! So please make sure to bring lots of energy and imagination with you! We will have our final performances on Friday July 12th and Saturday July 13th at 7:00, so save those dates on your calendar.

Registration is at 10:30 on Monday morning, July 1st, at the lobby of Hill House (the gym).  Remember – there is no camp on Thursday the 4th of July for the Independence Day holiday – so enjoy the fireworks and picnics!  I’ll need parents to check in for a few moments at the beginning of the first day to make sure all your paperwork is in order.  If you have a balance to pay or forms to fill out, you can do that then.  I am including with this email the very important medical form and dismissal form, as well as a lunch form for those of you who would to participate in our a la carte camp lunch program, and t-shirt order form in case you’re interested in getting a Comedy of Errors or techmonkey shirt . Please don’t forget to get a copy of your immunization records for me to have on file as well.  If you can make sure to have those forms to me by Monday morning, that would be great. Even better would be if you could email them to me before Monday!

Please use the Gibbs Ave. parking lot for drop-off and pick-up – that avoids a traffic jam with the Summer at St. Michael’s campers.  Don’t forget that the Teen Camp day begins at 10:30, so you can sleep in a smidge.  Campers need to be picked up by 4:00, and as early as 3:30 is fine if they don’t want to swim.

To have lunch on the first day of camp, please call and leave a message for me or jot me an email indicating that you want to join us, and also indicating your preference – Monday is pizza day (cheese or pepperoni pizza, and/or a salad).  Otherwise, remember to bring your lunch!  It’s also a good idea to pack a snack, and bring a water bottle (we have a water cooler and cups, but bringing your own bottle will help reduce trash!).   Of course, don’t forget your bathing suit and a towel for pool time at the end of each day as well.  For those of you who may not want to swim, bring a good book or playing cards if you’d like.

I think that’s all the information I need to give you before we get started, but feel free to call if you have any questions. My camp cell phone is 401-744-8262, or the Theatre at St. Michael’s voice mail is 849-5970 x411.  Thanks, and I’ll see you all very soon!  I can’t wait to see what’s in store this year…

COVID 19 update — our campus is closed but #SMSstaysconnected!

At this time, there are no known cases of COVID 19 in our SMS community. As Head of School Jim Heus wrote in a letter home to parents:

“In keeping with our nation’s efforts to maintain social distancing, and consistent with Governor Raimondo’s two-week suspension of public schools throughout the state, we will launch our plan for distance learning. We have planned, rehearsed and are ready to execute ‘virtual’ instruction on Monday, March 30th.”
