At St. Michael’s Country Day School, we believe in shaping the future of our children’s school community. We also believe that the advantages of an independent school, (small class size, individualized instruction, leadership opportunities in the classroom and community, a strong arts, technology and athletics program), should be available to as many academically qualified students as possible. Economic diversity improves the educational and social experience for students and is critical to sustaining a healthy school culture.
We understand that tuition plays a role in the decision to pursue an independent school for your child and want to work with your family in addressing any concerns you may have. Financially qualifying families may be able to take advantage of our Sliding Scale Tuition, a model designed to increase access and give families the opportunity to pay according to their demonstrated need. Sliding Scale Tuition supports our commitment to making a St. Michael’s education accessible to a wide range of families with a variety of economic circumstances.
Parents interested in learning more about our sliding scale tuition grants should contact Erin Schmidt, Director of Admissions at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 401 849-5970, ext 302.
We are pleased to offer $10,000 Academic Merit Scholarships for students entering grades 3-6. Currently the application has closed but you can Learn More > or contact Erin Schmidt for details.
Extended School Day programming and Homework Center are now included in the price of tuition. There will be NO additional fee associated with these programs. Children can stay at St. Michael’s from morning drop off until 5:30pm with no additional cost incurred. (Note: Excludes the Enrichment Program.)
1. Families who wish to be considered for tuition assistance are asked to complete the Parent’s Financial Statement (PFS). Submit an online PFS through the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS). Applications must be submitted by February 1, 2018.
2. Submit copies of the prior years’ tax returns (required by St. Michael’s).
The Tuition Assistance Committee uses the information provided by SSS and the applicant’s tax returns as guidelines to determine whether a family qualifies for tuition assistance and the grant amount to be awarded.
St. Michael’s is proud of its long, historical connection to the US military and US military families in Newport. Each year, the school enrolls fifteen to twenty five students from families connected to the Naval Academy’s War College and other service related duties. US military families bring a rich trove of national and international diversity to our community and enrich the experience of all our students.
The school has been exceptionally supportive to US military families through financial assistance. While classroom spaces and tuition assistance funds are available, active military families who apply for financial assistance can expect to receive support commensurate with their families’ need.
Prior to the Tuition Assistance discussion and consideration, students must first apply for admission St. Michael’s Country Day School. <<<Learn More about the admissions process >>>
