October 17th, 2008 by bholland

Ready for Leg 2? This time, we are going to tackle the Chart the World! activity.

Part #1 – You must do this first!

  1. Open your Documents Folder
  2. Open your Log Book
  3. Begin your log entry for Leg #2.
    • For Activity, enter Chart the World.
    • Add
    • today’s date
    • for your Start Date.

  4. Save and Quit Pages.

Part #2 – You must do this before you begin the activity!

We are going to use Numbers, a new program, for this challenge.

  1. Open Numbers from your Dock
  2. Choose Blank
  3. Save your file as your name-charts&graphs. (ex: MrsH-charts&graphs)

Part #3 – Working with Numbers

Before you can begin this challenge, you have to understand how Numbers works. Numbers is a spreadsheet program. It uses TABLES to create CHARTS and GRAPHS. I am going to demonstrate this both on the SMARTBoard as well as your screen.

Make sure you pay attention.

You will have to set up your document exactly as I show you.

Part #4 – Start Task #1

If you are reading this, then you have already set up your Numbers document and are ready to go find the information. If you are not all set, ask now!!!!

You now need to go find the distances for each leg. In a second, I am going to demonstrate exactly what I mean.

If you are reading this, then you know exactly what you need to do.

8th Grade Campaign Project

October 8th, 2008 by bholland

We need to get a few things DONE this week.

1. Pick a Candidate. You can nominate (and essentially vote) for your choices by voting online. Nominate one person to represent Senator McCain from 8C and one person to represent Senator Obama from 8W. Click Here to vote. (It will open a new window.)

2. FINISH the draft of your Brief. Before the end of class, you need to turn in a Keynote file to the 8C/8W folder in the 09 folder. Formatting does NOT matter. You need:

  • Slide #1 (Title Slide) – state the issue and have your name on it
  • Slide #2 – define the issue
  • Slide #3 – define your candidate’s position on the issue
  • Slide #4 – quote from the candidate about the issue
