BATTLE OF THE BOOKS 2017

The fourth grade has begun reading for the 2017 Battle of the Books to take place on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln School in Providence. This year’s list consists of 30 books that include a range of genres, subjects, and authors.  Of the 30 books, students need to read 15, and of course, the more books read, the better. SUMMER READING

The summer reading program at St. Michael’s offers students background reading for the curriculum that will be introduced when school starts; provides students an opportunity to share a common discussion of literature; and offers students good choices for summer reading. The summer reading  incorporates developmentally appropriate reading lists and assignments.  Students entering kindergarten through second grade are encouraged to read, read, read and may participate in a reading challenge such as “Be a Winner: Read!” For the older students, entering grades three through eight, the summer reading list is tailored to the appropriate grade level. Scholastic Book Fair a HUGE Success!

Thank you to all of the students and parents who made the Scholastic Book Fair a huge success. We sold over $3000 in books — a new record — for a profit of over $750. Along with that, we received over $200 in Scholastic Dollars to spend on books or other Scholastic products.
