Technology and Innovation teacher

St. Michael’s Country Day School, a nonsectarian independent school in Newport RI, is hiring a Technology and Innovation teacher. 

SMCDS is committed to Technology and Innovation. This summer, a brand new Technology and Innovation center is being built, as well as a dedicated film production room/green screen area. Each student in grades 4-8 is issued a Macbook Air, and in grade 3 an iPad. Younger students have access to laptop and iPad carts.

Our new Technology and Innovation teacher will be involved in curriculum design and have a weekly class with grades 2-8 as well as built in time to work with Preschool-1st grade as needed. Additionally, they would collaborate with and support teachers as they integrate technology and use new Innovation Lab with their students to enrich their classroom curriculum. 

A BS degree and classroom experience is desirable. A knowledge of coding, robotics, video production and design thinking is a plus.

Lower School Teachers
2018-2019 School Year

Due to increased enrollment, we are seeking experienced teachers for our Lower School, which includes grades one through four. Candidates must have a good understanding of the social, emotional and developmental needs of children they will be working with and a passion for teaching that age group.

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues;
  • strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • an understanding of, appreciation for, and commitment to 21st century learning skills;
  • an aptitude and commitment to technology.

Bachelor’s Degree is required.  Knowledge of guided reading, Responsive Classroom practices, project based learning, and Singapore math,  as well as, a masters degree is preferred.
St. Michael’s values and supports reflective teaching practices, on-going professional development and teachers who see themselves as lifelong learners.
