5th/6th  Teacher

 

St. Michael’s Country Day School is a non-profit, independent PS to 8th grade day school in Newport, RI. The school has opened a search for a 5th/6th grade teacher for the 2016-2017 school year.  

 

St. Michael’s Country Day School provides a dynamic curriculum that is built on excellence and inspires students to:

The school is searching for a History/English teacher for students in grades 5 and 6.   As our first priority is for an outstanding History teacher, we can be flexible in how to shape a full time position for the right candidate.  

 

The Search Committee is looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

 

  • A strong understanding of the cognitive and developmental needs of middle school students;
  • Leadership skills for students, faculty, and parents in an independent school setting;
  • An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • An understanding of, appreciation for, and commitment to 21st century learning skills;
  • An ongoing personal commitment to professional development.

 

Teacher candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and teaching experience. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills as well as an aptitude and commitment to technology.
