Facilities Manager

Job Summary

The director of facilities reports to Head of School and is responsible for the oversight of the physical plant, campus grounds, energy management, and campus security.Interested candidates should send cover letter and resume to hr@smcds.org

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the custodial staff and the careful maintenance and security of buildings and grounds
  • Manage day-to-day events as well as special events.
  • Maintain public safety on campus and assist in the review and execution of the school’s crisis management plan.
  • Devise and manage an annual departmental budget.
  • Arrange bids, oversee the work of all outside contractors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and budgetary restrictions.
  • Develop and implement and ongoing equipment replacement program.
  • Establish policies and protocol that meet all required environmental, health, and maintenance standards as required by law and work with the administration to ensure compliance with all regional, state, and federal regulations and laws as they impact the school. 

Qualification Requirements

  • Significant experience in a supervisory/management role; working knowledge of at least three trades is required (maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, carpentry, construction)
  • Strong supervisory, organizational, technical, and analytical skills
  • Proven success developing and balancing an annual budget
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Problem solver with a high degree of diplomacy
  • Technologically savvy
  • Able to work collaboratively with a team




Classroom Assistant

We are seeking a reliable college graduate, to help support teachers in the classroom, and during recess and lunch times. The candidate should have a passion for and experience with working with children in preschool and prekindergarten. This is a five day a week position and the hours are 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Extended Day Staff
We are seeking staff members for our Extended Day Program which runs from 3:00-5:30pm each school day. Staff members have some flexibility as to the days and hours that they work. Candidates should have a college degree and experience working with children in at least one of these age groups; preschool through kindergarten, grades 1-4, or grades 5-8.
