ABOUT ST. MICHAEL'S

SMS-logo-50x5Welcome to St. Michael’s.

Nurture the mind and great things will happen.

If you were a child again, what would you wish for in a school?  Would you want to be surrounded by the creative energy of an extraordinary art program?  Would you wish for a small and nurturing community of dedicated teachers and kind-hearted classmates?  Would you thrive in a place where you had the one on one attention you needed, where you were inspired to learn, grow and play every day?

St. Michael’s Country Day School is just that kind of place.  Founded in 1938, we are an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational school for children.  Our education program begins with our three year olds in preschool and serves our children through eighth grade.

Where did the name St. Michael’s come from?  Early in our history, St. Michael’s had an affiliation with Newport’s historic Trinity Episcopal church.  Through that affiliation, the name St. Michael’s was born.  Although we no longer share ties with any religious organizations, we maintain our name to honor our history.  The values of honor, respect and excellence are true to our core as the school evolves and grows throughout the years.

Our building was designed by world-renowned architect Irving Gill and is a destination “must see” for architectural enthusiasts around the world.  The Spanish mission style buildings are set upon 7 acres of beautifully manicured grounds overlooking Newport’s Easton’s Beach.St Michaels Country Day School

We offer a challenging and rewarding curriculum that engages and inspires our students at the deepest level.  With emphasis on educating the whole child, our small class sizes, creative instruction and strong parent involvement contribute to our higher standards of academic and cultural excellence.

St. Michael’s is proud to highlight…
